Treeline CEO Peter Doyle says AI can modernize a $100B MSP market, but services and human technicians remain essential.
Treeline CEO Peter Doyle argues that managed IT and security services are a roughly $100 billion market—and at least a decade behind modern technology. Rather than add yet another tool to the 30–35 software products MSPs may already use, Treeline combines technicians with software, automation, and AI, taking ownership of workflows and change management. Doyle says proactive systems could resolve customer issues in one minute instead of 30, while lowering costs and improving service over time. Treeline merged with traditional providers to gain experienced operators, but emphasizes organic growth over acquisition-led financial engineering. Doyle sees a much larger AI opportunity in modernizing the trillions of dollars of legacy infrastructure underpinning the economy, though integration will take years. He expects traditional MSPs to persist, warns that adoption—not model progress—is AI’s biggest constraint, and says deeply embedded enterprise software is harder for frontier labs to displace than tools used by individuals or small teams.
