Elon Musk proposed AI companies peer-review one another’s models as SpaceX targets Starship reuse and builds a Texas chip fab.
SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell recounts joining as employee No. 11, landing an early rocket sale, and becoming president during negotiations for a $1.6 billion NASA cargo contract. She says Starlink has only 1.5–2% market penetration, while compute rental is already a major business; next year SpaceX plans new Starlink satellites and AI-compute satellites. Shotwell argues orbital data centers could avoid Earth-based real-estate, permitting, power and cooling constraints. Elon Musk says Starship Flight 14 is planned before an attempted ship catch on Flight 15, with rapid reuse targeted for 2027. He also explains TerraFab’s chip-supply rationale: an Austin Tesla-SpaceX R&D fab is being equipped, with useful output hoped for by the end of next year. On AI risk, Musk cites a Hugging Face incident and urges competing companies to test one another’s models before release, including through a process China could accept.
