Public URL name
Every account has a public URL name that appears in the links you share publicly, for example /s/your-name/video. It tells visitors who shared that write-up.
- When your account is created we assign a random code (like
u-3f9a1c7e); your email address is never used. - On the Account page you can change it once: 3 to 30 characters, lowercase letters, digits, - and _ only, starting and ending with a letter or digit. We suggest the part of your email before the @, but any unused name works.
- After the change, links with the old name redirect to the new one, so anything you've already shared keeps working, and the old name is never given to anyone else.
- To set it before you share, the quick-start checklist has a step that takes you there.
Names reserved by the system (such as admin or help) and names that impersonate the service are not allowed.
