Getting started

Analyze your first video

Three steps

  1. Paste a YouTube video URL on the home page.
  2. (Optional) Once you're signed in, pick an output language below the input box: Auto / Traditional Chinese / Simplified Chinese / English; "Auto" follows the video's language (an English video gets English results). Your choice is remembered for next time.
  3. Click "Analyze".

We automatically fetch the transcript (captions first, speech-to-text only when there are no usable captions), then produce four analyses. When it's done you'll find it under "Library" — open it to view, edit, share, or ask questions.

If you're not signed in yet, clicking "Analyze" first asks you to sign in with Google; you'll come back to the home page with your URL still there, and the analysis continues.

Note

  • Analyses are private to you by default; only you can see them.
  • Duplicate videos: if you submit a video you've already analyzed in the same output language, we'll let you know and offer to jump straight to your earlier result; choosing a different output language analyzes a fresh one.
  • Chinese videos: picking "Traditional Chinese" or "Simplified Chinese" normalizes both the transcript and the analyses to that script; with "Auto" we detect Traditional vs. Simplified from the video's title and description.
  • Videos in other languages: with "Auto", an English video gets English results and a Japanese video gets Japanese results, including videos that have no captions; if the title or description is in Chinese (a Chinese channel's interview in another language, for example), the results are written in Chinese. To always read in a specific language, pick it explicitly.
  • Traditional Chinese text is kept as written: when the captions or content are already in Traditional Chinese, we keep the creator's own wording, and only Simplified text is converted. Two exceptions: 臺 and 台 are made consistent (the everyday form 台 in general, and 臺 in the official names of government bodies and schools, such as 國立臺灣大學 and 臺北市政府), and common conversion mistakes (such as 公裡 for 公里) are corrected.
